"The toad always has his eyes fixed on heaven. Why? In order to watch the bird in its flight. Grantaire, in whom writhed doubt, loved to watch faith soar in Enjolras." - Victor Hugo, "Les Miserables"

I want to hug this picture. You capture so much emotion in their eyes. And I'm a glutton for anything Enjolras/Grantaire.

Thank you :) I have a love/hate remationship with E/R myself...it's the most tempting, frustrating, baffling and fraught relationship among the Amis...so simple, and yet so very complicated.

I wonder, why this picture didn'm make it earlier to my favs, then I like seeing them together. Sepecaially if they look like this. You can really see Grantairs adoration for Enjy.

Yes...I've had far too little of this pair to date. I'm still looking at ideas for a painting of their final moments, but can't settle on the composition - so far everything I've drawn has seemed off. All I know is I want to go with the translation that has them still holding hands as the guns go off.

That's hard to draw... try it.

I did a simple sillouette version that's in my scraps and have done some composition sketches. The most like POV would be from the NG, so there would be a row of gun barrels foregrounded, but having them standing side by side seems rather dull. There are a few elements that I'd like to work in - sunlight through a window touching Enjolras' hair etc. Not sure about the billiard table.
