A charming young man capable of being terrible.

This version of Enjolras owes a lot to Frédérique on Abaisse, who introduced me to the wonders of the word "farouche".

Usually translated in Enjolras's descriptions in "Les Miserables" as wild, savage, fierce and even shy, there is no English equivalent that captures all the nuances.

There is a sense of something wild, yes - in the sense of a seldom seen wild animal that will fight to the death if cornered. No entirely socialised, fanatical, fierce.

Even cornered, alone, and disarmed, Enjolras is still a formidable opponent.

Isn't this also the word Grantaire uses when he says what is usually translated as "I am wild"?

The eyes basically decide the mood of the scene, the strength of the character, the intensity of the moment. These are some brilliant eyes. I notice them in a lot of your Enjolras pictures, but with a close-up like this it matters just that much more.

I love his expression! The way he sets his jaw, and you know that no one can really beat him. Sure, they can tear his body apart, but what he stands for will live on, and no one will really forget him.
Also, for some reason I can clearly picture Enjolras as a child based off of this picture, is that messed up? The way his eyes are tell you he isn't moving, the way he is posed. Am I looking into this too far?
Anyways, amazing, per usual. :)
